North Carolina Only Southern State Lacking Marriage Amendment

With the ongoing debate over marriage definition in the courts and through popular referendums, as of 2012 North Carolina is the only state in the South lacking a marriage amendment to its state constitution.

Democratic strategist James Carville was one of the architects of Bill Clinton's victory in 1992 and has played a key role in party politics for the last 20 years. Now Carville is saying if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns parts of Obamacare, the Democrats may well benefit in the November elections.

An atheist campaign seeking to show families that they can be "great without God" or religion during Easter weekend received some setback after organizers were told the ads were inappropriate for the Texas theater targeted in the campaign.

The Oklahoma House recently approved a resolution declaring "Oklahoma – In God We Trust!" as the state's official motto, with some critics rejecting the proposal as exclusive and "frivolous."

John Piper Readying to Step Down; Successor Candidate Named

A candidate to succeed influential pastor John Piper at Bethlehem Baptist Church was announced by the church's elders Tuesday. Piper said he is "overjoyed" at the selection while he continues to be a part of the succession process.

Sheila Schuller Coleman, lead pastor of Hope Center of Christ, the congregation she founded with members who broke away from the Crystal Cathedral church in Garden Grove, Calif., preached about "looking forward" in this past Sunday's service, temporarily being held at a hotel.

An Ohio pastor involved in spreading awareness about child abuse in the U.S. said that the church should be "fearful of our own depravity."

A Presbyterian Church (USA) court has ruled in favor of a breakaway California congregation in a case over whether or not it had to monetarily compensate its former presbytery.

Christian women often try to organize the messiness of life by creating "happy little compartments that we suppose will bring peace," said Trisha Wilkerson, a Christian blogger and mother.

Religion can influence suicide rates, a new study shows. While data have long shown that Protestants are more likely to commit suicide than Catholics, the relationship remains little understood. The study by Professors Sascha Becker and Ludger Woessmann demonstrates a causal link between Protestantism and suicide.

Manny Pacquiao, Filipino world-renowned boxer and congressman, held a bible study on Tuesday where he spoke about himself, New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin and New York Jets' quarterback Tim Tebow being chosen by God to spread his word.

The Game Show Network, or GSN, has siged on stand-up comedian Jeff Foxworthy to host its new game show, "The American Bible Challenge," which will test contestants' knowledge of the Bible.

Anglican 'Unity Covenant' Voted Down by Church of England

The Church of England has voted down a 'unity covenant' that was intended to help keep together the Anglican Communion, which is experiencing fierce divisions over theological differences amongst its member churches.

Kuwaiti authorities arrested a man Tuesday for insulting the Prophet Muhammad via his Twitter account, based on a Sharia-based blasphemy law, which is highly regarded in the mostly Sunni Muslim country. The incident reportedly drew calls for the man's death.

A massive march to the city of Jerusalem is planned for this Friday with communities from around the world calling for "freedom for Palestine and its capital Jerusalem" in an event that has attracted the support of Desmond Tutu, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright as well as the nation of Iran.
